Send a Message of Hope in Kenya this Giving Tuesday - Love Is Project x This Saves Lives Collaboration

November 26, 2021 2 min read

This Giving Tuesday, we're excited to partner with actress Kristen Bell's company, This Saves Lives, for a collaboration gift box. Love Is Project & This Saves Lives’ limited edition “Love Saves” gift box empowers Kenyan women by creating jobs as well as providing nutrient-rich food to support their children’s health.

Love Is Project x This Saves Lives Collaboration Gift box

This Saves Lives has a long history of providing life-saving food (PlumpyNut) to children in Kenya and around the world who are suffering from acute malnutrition. To save a child’s life, it takes about 3 packages a day for 6-8 weeks. Working with their partners, This Saves Lives has already given over 23 million life-saving packets worldwide.

Co-founders Kristen BellRyan DevlinTodd Grinnell, and Ravi Patel launched This Saves Lives with a simple motto, "Buy A Bar. Feed A Child. We Eat Together."

How Your Purchase From Love Is Project Has Helped Our Kenyan Artisans

A study done by the co-op that employs our beaders found that the longer the women have been working and making beaded LOVE bracelets, the less likely they are to be living in poverty. For context, half of our beaders lived in poverty when they start working with the beading group. When you buy our Kenyan bracelets, you are making a direct impact and supporting our female Kenyan artisans!

Here’s how we’ve been able to make a difference:

  • 1,400+ female artisans have been employed in Kenya since 2015
  • Our artisans make about 15 times Kenya’s minimum wage
  • Half of the beaders also farm produce, so we’ve started our Love Grows Program to support them with funds and sustainable farming practices
  • A majority of the women have reported an increase in their beading skills and in their sense of independence
  • The women now have enough income to support their families and send their children to school

Love Is Project x This Saves Lives

Please consider Kenyan beaders and their communities this holiday season, whether through Love Is Project’s  holiday gift guide or our collaboration with This Saves Lives. If you need any other reasons, here are videos of some of our artisans describing the impact that Love is Project has had on them. Happy Giving Tuesday!
