Where It Began
I was so happy that my visit to Kenya coincided with Valentine's Day. No better way to celebrate the Love Is Project as a new brand from where it all began!
Maai Mahiu
I visited Maai Mahiu, the headquarters of the Mailika mums in their new sewing factory and reconnect with old team members there. Many of the mums started 10 years ago with nothing, ostracize by their community because they had special needs children.
Thriving Mums
Fast forward 10 years later, the ladies are thriving and are happy to have a consistent stream of income to help support their families.
Location, Location, Location
I headed out to scout a location for our photoshoot on Friday, the Alchemist Bar (@alchemistbarkenya), which is an artsy event space with gourmet food trucks, a joint venture started by Kenyans and expats four years ago. An indoor & outdoor raw space with fun colored backgrounds and graffiti makes it a perfect set for our Love Is Project campaign.
